Welcome to the Llano Estacado Alliance for Families (LEAF) website! The Llano Estacado Alliance for Families (LEAF) is a community partnership of child-serving agencies, mental health providers, faith and community organizations, schools, families, consumers, and other community stakeholders representing eleven rural counties on the South Plains of West Texas. As a rural population, we face distinct challenges in developing resources responsive to the diverse needs of our communities. LEAF is dedicated to working together to develop and create services and supports that meet the needs and improve the lives of our families, friends, and neighbors. Ultimately, we aspire to promote the well-being of all the members of our communities.
While the partnership was started over eight years ago, we have evolved over time. In July 2007, we officially became a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization and adopted our name. As partners in the Llano Estacado Alliance for Families works together to build healthier and happier communities, we believe that the acronym that is created by our name is fitting:
The single leaf is an ancient symbol said to signify happiness. Leaves, together, have different symbolic meanings all representing characteristics we hope to help grow.
Bay: healing; peace of mind Ivy: strong & lasting friendships Redwood: strength & long life Birch: security & success Burdock: tenacity and perseverance Oak: faith and endurance; wisdom & longevity
LEAF’s mission: to build a responsive community of care that inspires, supports and enables all children, families, and community members to realize their potential to lead healthy, responsible, productive lives.
