Financial report
Jeff presented the summary of finances for the Mental Health Transformation funds that LEAF receives through Texas Health Institute.  Our remaining balance for the fiscal year was $50.    The Tele-med equipment was more than anticipated, running about $9,800 instead.  There is possibility of purchasing upgraded equipment at Levelland and Muleshoe with future funds.  The budget proposal for Mental Health transformation for 2010 was also presented.  Kay Harris made a motion to accept the budgets and Sheryl second it.

Mental Health First Aid
Ron shared his experience of Mental Health First Aid certification.  This program was started in Australia then came to US in 2008.  The goal is to have Mental Health First Aid as prevalent as medical first aid.  The 12-hour certification course will be available to others that are interested.  Maridel made a motion to agree the board members would be offered the training and Kathy second the motion.  Notebooks for the class are $12 but there will be no course charge for board members.  Anyone else interested in becoming certified in Mental Health First Aid may contact Ron Trusler.

Anti-stigma Update
Ron passed out Mental Health Matters notepads that were ordered.  Jar openers have been ordered along with Mental Health Anti-stigma radio messages.

TXDOT Grant Update
This grant would help with clients transportation needs.  This is a grant from the Texas Dept. of Transportation.  Jere reported that she has not received any response back on this grant endeavor to date.

CDC Grant
Kelli would like to have LEAF to partner with the Health Dept. in this grant proposal.  Due to technical delays in receiving the application LEAF will help out if we can at an appropriate.

RCI Update
Kay Brotherton announced Michael Cox has been promoted to Rural Children’s Initiative Coordinator.  RCI has contracted with a college student, Beth Hoffman, as a Junior Youth Coordinator.   RCI is about to have 2nd interviews for the RCI Family Involvement Coordinator.  Kay also presented a Request for Proposal for the Social Marketing position.
Michael reported that the youth and family partners hosted a Sho Out talent contest for area youth.  There was a good turn out.
Jose led the Mental Health interpretation trainings this month and also had a good turnout.  They brought in trainers from the National Latin Behavior Association for this 3-day training on skills to interpreting in a formal way.  He is hopeful those trained will form a subgroup under the NLBA here.
Kay, David, and Judge Dodson went to Washington D.C. for a Primer training about SAMSHA System of Care.
Lastly, Jere and Kay will attend a Communities Joined in Action conference titled Integrating Community Health Success in a New Era, while representing LEAF.
Kay presented the board a draft of RCI’s Logic Model for our review.  Also she announced RCI has selected a logo.
Calendars are ready from the poster contest presenting a picture for each month.  The winning poster is on the billboard near the Sonic downtown.

Data Link Training
John Hopkins, from Pace Plus a community based software company joined us to share the software capabilities.  This unique software enables referrals from local agencies into it.  In managing clients you can search for a client or enter a new client.  The software searches through the agencies to see whom they can refer the client to.  HIPAA guidelines are followed so it has a counter for extra safety.  Copy function allows putting information entered into other places.  All lists are self-manageable.  Tarrant County is using this software in their initiative.  Also whichever agency picks up the referral the others of like services goes away.  It can also add relationships on the client profile record.  Once an agency chooses the client an intake will pop-up.  The software has an assessment and service plan option.  There are 2 different levels of cost in purchasing the software.  One is a hosting cost where you just use the software along with a website.  In House cost is for purchasing the software.  Hosting cost depends on how many agencies are setup and how many clients you have.  This is done on a monthly basis of around $3,000 along with a $45,000 to $50,000 upfront cost.

Youth Involvement
Michael presented what is means to have youth involvement and what that looks like in a power point presentation for the board.

Board Protocol and Family Driven Care Training
Deann will meet with Family partners just after the board meeting to go over board meeting protocol and how to have a voice.  They will also be discussing an upcoming Family Driven Care training to go over what family driven looks like.  Family partners are encouraged to attend the Leaf and RCI board meetings along with the debriefing while eating a catered lunch.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m.  with the RCI Steward group meeting to follow.   The next board meeting will be November 2009 at 9:30 a.m.  at the Tommy Lewis Building.
